The Adoration of Jenna Fox
By: Mary E. Pearson
Seventeen year old Jenna Fox awakes in an unfamiliar room from a coma caused by an accident of which she has no recollection. In fact, she has no recollection of anything that occurred in her first sixteen years. Her parents supply her with videos of her life, but only a few actually cause her to remember the event. She feels so different from the happy girl she sees on the television screen. Slowly, she begins to piece together random memories and bits of information to discover the shocking truth of what happened to her on the night of the accident, and the measures her parents took to save their adored daughter. This book will keep readers hooked right until the bittersweet ending that will leave them with a sense of completion, yet a longing for more.
The Adoration of Jenna Fox was a genuinely heartfelt story of a girl trying to find herself. Despite its relatively slim width, don’t expect this book to be either light or easy. It packs a powerful punch and forces readers to ask themselves if there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed in medical science. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a deep and memorable read.
