To Say Nothing of the Dog

By: Connie Willis

Ned Henry is an overworked time traveler who is in desperate need of a rest after going back and fourth between the twentieth and the twenty-first century looking for a piece of Victorian art called The Bishop’s Bird Stump. Just when it seems like he’s finally going to get his well deserved rest a fellow time traveler named Verity Kindle caused a crisis. She brought a cat through the net, the time traveling device, from 1888 to 2057 to save it from drowning. Up until now it was believed, and repeatedly proven, to be impossible to bring anything forward in time. Now, she and Ned must return the cat, repair the damage Verity caused, save a young man from an unfortunate marriage, and find the Bishop’s Bird Stump, all before the time space continuum collapses.

This science fiction novel is filled with humor, romance, and several cases of mistaken identity. I would recommend it to anyone who likes those genres or is just looking for a good book. Ned Henry’s hilarious first person narration will keep you up late at night stifling never ending giggles. By the time you finish the first thing you’ll want to do is read it again.
