Brian Jacques, the Master of Redwall….

I’ll be frank (and obvious), I don’t read everything, even the really, really good books.  I never read the Redwall series.  BUT, the genuine enthusiasm and respect for these titles has always made me think….’The readers LOVE these books.’  I just learned that Brian Jacques – author, racaunteur, believer in children and the power of story – has died at age 71.  I do remember learning that he first wrote and read these stories for the children who attended a school for the blind.  There, with word and voice, he brought the stories to life for the sightless listeners. So even though I have never read (just parts) the stories of Redwall, the person behind them is to me someone who shall always be remembered simply because….he loved the power of the story – written or spoken – for young ears and old.  Rest in peace and be assured, Redwall will always have real estate at the library.
